A nisse, tomte, or tomtenisse is a mythological creature from Nordic folklore today typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season. The nisse will deliver gifts at the door, in accordance with the modern-day tradition of the visiting Santa Claus, enters homes to hand out presents.

This small gnome is easy and fast to make, great Christmas present for Christmas tree.

Pattern

You will need:

small amount of grey, white,

red and beige yarn

crochet hook

stuffing

yarn needle

Body:

start with grey yarn

1) 6 sc in magic ring (6)

2) 2 sc in each sc (12)

3) (sc, 2 sc in next sc ) X 6 times (18)

4)- 11) sc in each sc (18)

12) (sc, 2 sc together (dec)) X 6 times (12)

Fill the body with stuffing

13) sc 2 together (dec) X 6 times (6)

Decrease until the hole is closed. Fasten off.

Hat:

Start with red yarn

1) 6 sc in magic ring (6)

2)– 3) sc in each sc (6)

4) (sc, 2 sc in next sc) X3 (9)

5)-6) sc in each sc (9)

7) (sc in 2, 2 sc in next) X3 (12)

8)-9) sc in each sc (12)

10) (sc in 3, 2 sc in next) X3 (15)

11)-12) sc in each sc (15)

13) (sc in 4, 2 sc in next) X3 (18)

14)-15) sc in each sc (18)

16) (sc in 5, 2 sc in next) X3 (21)

17)-18) sc in each sc (21)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing

Beard:

With white yarn

Chain 6, slip stitch to first chain to form a ring. Repeat same action 6 times.

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Nose:

Start with beige (or pink)

1) 6 sc in magic ring (6)

2)-3) sc in each sc (6)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew nose, beard and hat on body.
