Being an art expert, I’ve had several jobs in my life in different fields, but sometimes there were moments when I didn’t have any job and I had to figure out how to make my living. I always had many skills and interests, that I thought of as just hobbies. I never thought I could live on the hobby. But as it turns out it is possible. My hobby for quite some time has been crocheting. However, knowing how to crochet does not mean that you have guaranteed source of income. You need to work a lot. There are several ways to earn money with crochet and not necessarily all of them will be suitable for you.

Crochet for custom orders
This is a very convenient form, because you do not have to worry about making bunch of stuff that nobody would want to buy. You know, that if you spend money on yarn and your time, you have a guaranteed customer.
Тhe hardest part is to find a customer. In order to build trust, you need to show examples of your work. For this, you need to create at least a page on facebook and constantly update with pictures of your product. But that’s not all you have to share, share and share everywhere.
Sell finished product online
There are websites like Etsy, or eBay, or you can even create your own website, or sell finished products through facebook. For me this method was not very convenient because of the shipping prices. In my country, shipping costs more than the product itself. Nevertheless, there are a lot of people on Etsy, who have very successful online stores.
Sell patterns
This is a very good way to avoid shipping problems. However, creating patterns is much more difficult, than creating product itself. You should offer something new and interesting. Patterns should be very clear and with a lot of pictures.
Blogging
If you have good writing skills, blogging is an ideal way to earn money. You don’t sell the product, you just write about it for the people who share the same passion as you, so you don’t have to worry about any problems associated with shipping. You can use services like Google AdSense to advertise on the site and get paid for it. Your blog should be very inviting, interesting and useful, so your readers will come back.
Video tutorials
Creating video tutorials on Youtube is also a good way to earn money. You don’t even need a camera for that. For example, I make my videos with my cell phone. Only thing that I bought was mobile tripod, but it was worth it.
My advice would be to use several ( preferably all 5) ways at the same time. It’s easier to build enough traffic that way and you can make enough money to make that a full time job. Like any business, crochet requires a lot of time and effort. There are a lot of advantages of this kind of job if you are willing to put energy in it. For example, you can work from anywhere, that is a big plus for moms. Also, you do not need to invest a lot of money to start the business up. And finally, the most important thing is that crocheting is very creative and fun thing to do, that brings not only money, but pleasure.
